 The Obama administration and its multitude of defenders, speakers and kool-aid drinkers are telling the nations populace that Michigan and not Texas should be the model on which to fix the nation's economy. Michigan is only one of 10 states that no one wants to buy a home.

Yet, the Obama 2012 campaign says of Texas and Rick Perry:
"He holds up Texas as a model," Axelrod said. "You look at Texas and they have among the lowest wages in the country, the highest rate of uninsured people, some of the worst performance in their schools." (Source:AP)

Former MI Gov Granholm Says Obama Should Use MI As the Model To Fix The Economy

 Reading a critque of former Michigan Gov. Granholm's latest book.

No one can blame Granholm for the national recession, or the bankruptcies of General Motors and Chrysler, which had a devastating effect on Michigan, more than doubling the 6.7 percent unemployment rate she inherited.

But she can be blamed for the failed left-wing methods she used to meet the problems, from trying to choose winners and losers in business, to raising personal and business taxes, to deciding which specific jobs were worthy of training with taxpayer subsidies.

Granholm closes by suggesting that the Obama administration can learn from her Michigan initiatives in trying to steer a national economic recovery.

She's right on that count — but the lesson lies more in avoiding our state's mistakes than in repeating them. (Source:Detnews – September 23, 2011)

President Barack Obama's chief political adviser on Tuesday conceded that a dark cloud looms over the American economy and Obama's political future, describing the president's road to a second term in the White House as "a Titanic struggle."

"We have the wind in our face because the American people have the wind in their faces," David Axelrod told an audience of New Hampshire politicians and business leaders. "So this is going to be a Titanic struggle. But I firmly believe we're on the right side of the struggle."

But even as he acknowledged the stark political reality, Axelrod said the president would ultimately win re-election, in part because of the flawed field of Republican candidates. He characterized their plans to repair the nation's ailing economy as the same kind of deregulation and tax cuts that caused the downturn in the first place.
